Europe 2006

I have been absent at the end of the school year because I was grading the AP US History exam in San Antonio and because I am now traveling in Eastern and Northern Europe. I have decided to create a personal journal for this trip on my family blog. If you are interested go to http://fonsfamily.blogspot.com/.

More On al-Zar

A history from the Atlantic. His quick rise from Patrick Cockburn and Alex Cockburn's two cents. You need to know a new arabic name war on terror warriors. Will it be Abu al-Masari?

Curse?

With the death of Zarqawi the US loses a boogieman and a scapegoat for all violence in Iraq. Will they find a new name to pin the violence on? Yes. They need a name. It's easier to pitch to the masses in the US.

FU on BBC7

BBC 7 is running a radio version of House of Cards. I have no idea how this will go but the TV show is was one of the most biting political satires I have ever seen.

The Urbanity of Evil

As usual Normon Solomon focuses in on a point missed by many. Tariq Aziz did cut the dashing figure and Saddam knew it. US official far less deft as he get away with like crimes and rarely are held to a similar standard.

Hades Now!

I know this is all arbitrary numerilogical bullshit but it's fun to mess with the sky godders. Happy Devil Day!

Conservatives

Here's a decent commentary on recent Reagan revisionism. Reagan loved government. So does Bush. They are peas in a pod. The "conservative" movement is grossly misnamed. There is very little conservative about creative destruction. They may be conservative when it comes to maintaining a political system that keeps them in power and a social system that does the same but in general they are very unprincipled ideologically.
