The war party are on an offensive here at home. They are worried. They know that their lies have been found out, their policies are failing and most importantly there is waning support now for the war even within military families and within the military itself.
You will now hear a lot about "a plan for victory." They know, unlike the Left and the anti-war movement, that in politics one needs to be for something and setting the agenda. They like talking points so listen to the roar everywhere now for 1) we are for a free society/democracy, 2) we are on the offensive economically and militarily to win and 3) Iraqis will eventually take over militarily. All this requires patience and lots of time. In other words, we will win deomcracy in Iraq and we are withdrawing. This is a lie.
Democracy in Iraq would mean a withdrawal of US troops, control of oil production and Shia control. The US does not want this. Withdrawal will occur on US terms if they are able to meet their objectives, control of Iraqi oil, a weak Iraq and thus strength for US strategic interests.
If you are for self-determination in the world your position should be US OUT NOW! If not you side with imperialism, soft or hard your still an imperialist. Meaning you want the US to control what happens in Iraq not Iraqis.

More seriously, there is something of a "Hail Oceania!" feel to the War Party's (wait, I thought that was the Democrats?) latest PR blitz.
Did you see the banner/graphic that went along with Bush's speech? Maybe it's just me, but there are some real throwback elements to the graphic on the "Plan for Victory." Sort of British Empire meets Gilliam's Brazil.

Actually, it's not "THE Plan for Victory," it's just "Plan for Victory." As in, "Count on it, freedom-haters." As in, "You can take that to the bank, heh heh."
I'd really like to get a better look at that official-looking seal behind the words. Probably says something in latin like, "We're in it for the oil."
In this space at least I am not from the "let's all get along and discuss things" school. I write rants here so that people, all 23 a week, will come over to my position. I want you to think like I do about the war. That's why I write these posts, oh yeah and it's therapeutic.
I see my role as the left flank. Particularly to you liberal running dogs of imperialism and parasitic usurpers.
Yes, we're losing horribly because in the time that 127 American soldiers are killed, we kill 800 terrorists, capture 1500 more, and confiscate 200 caches of weapons. I know that you won't believe the numbers, but that's up to you. They're true whether you want them to be or not.
There is a middle ground between being an imperialst and being a self-determinist(if that's the right word). I'm that middle ground. Obviously we can't leave now. Think about Rwanda when all foreign troops left. A bloodbath, right? I know you know this arguement, but it went untouched in this rant and still rings true. The US has to stay in Iraq while it isn't necessarily a a good thing. However, I do love oil... and Halliburton... so... yea... go USA!
How is support of invasion and occupation of a country thousands of miles away from the US support for self-determination?
